Mercury Relay Separation Plan

All equipment and material received by MPC is visually and manually inspected for the presence of mercury-bearing components a minimum of three times during preparation and prior to processing.

When mercury is located, the circuit boards which contain the mercury are segregated and transferred to our mercury recovery station. After the mercury is removed, the board is returned to the customer’s shipment for further processing. The mercury is stored at MPC in EPA/DOT approved containers, inventoried and tracked as hazardous waste. The mercury relay is placed in drums for accumulation and treated as hazardous material.

The accumulation of mercury relays is periodically shipped to an approved mercury reclamation facility to recover and reuse the contained mercury.
