ISO14001:2004 CERTIFICATION

MPC has achieved ISO 14001:2004 Certification. ISO 14001:2004 is a voluntary international standard for environmental management. It outlines the framework for the creation and implementation of an environmental management system (EMS). ISO 14001:2004 requires that companies go "beyond compliance" and identify specific proactive ways that the environment can be protected.

"Our commitment to certification confirms that environmental excellence is a top priority for MPC," said David Kutoff, President/CEO, MPC. “We are proud of our reputation in the Electronics Recycling industry for high standards of environmental excellence and we believe certification further demonstrates our commitment to the environment and continual improvement."

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) www.iso.org is an independent worldwide federation that promotes the development and implementation of voluntary international standards. ISO consists of representatives from 146 countries, with the United States represented by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) www.ansi.org.

POLLUTION PREVENTION

It is the policy of MPC to prevent any pollution of our environment. This has and will continue to be implemented by the CEO of the corporation. Typical examples of how this is being accomplished are as follows:

  1. An ongoing, aggressive installation program of state-of-the-art equipment for any fume or dust generation process.
  2. Formal employee education and training programs.
  3. Evaluation of all processes for environmental impact alternatives.

Included in MPC’s recovery technology are baghouse dust collection systems for the shredder as well as any operations where dust is generated. Dust collection hoods have been modified for increased containment. Baghouse dust collection systems have vacuum gauges installed to alert operators if a tear or hole develops in a bag. To further enhance dust minimization, MPC routinely cleans the production area floor with a water scrubber floor vacuum. The water from the scrubber is collected and evaporated to recover the dirt and dust particles, which are then dried and recycled. A separate dedicated water washing and collection system is used periodically to wash down the walls and equipment within the shred room. The recovered wash water is also evaporated, dried and recycled.
